“Coping up with pain is difficult, but time too, heals pain. And after some time, you will see, in any case, as long as you wait, you will always come out better and stronger. And who knows, your ideal man may be some other guy waiting for you as well…”

Tandaan mo, kung ideal sya, he will make the way, not you. You shouldn’t be doing anything, just wait.”

- a conversation with my brother

It was a meaningful conversation with my cousin. It made me, again, realize the prejudices in the society I belong to; to be more specific, in the kind of family I am part of.

Sometimes, I get tired of this issue. But nevertheless, it will still be a lifetime struggle of proving them wrong.

Metanoia

As we were attending yesternight’s anticipated mass, our parish priest mentioned about a man who used to be a professor but now, he is going to be part of a seminary here in our province. (Probably, another case of change of heart.) Then, I just thought of something and asked my ever-reliable brother about it.

Me: Yaku, may calling kaya ako?

Him: *pauses with a weird look on his face* ‘Wag mo na silang guluhin dun. Payapa at masaya na sila.” *pauses again* “Magulo ka.”

Now, that’s what you call a real brotherly love - it’s full of sarcasm. Anticipating my nonsense question, knowing why I asked it in the first place, and jumping into conclusions like reading my mind… Yeah, very impressive. I really am looking forward to meet a man like him – someone who can insult and inspire me at the same time.

Hmm… It got me into thinking. Am I really a threat to them, to the seminarians?

Hindi naman ah.

When Pain Lingers…

This is what my eldest brother told me:

“Coping up with pain is difficult, but time too, heals pain. And after some time you will see, in any case, as long as you wait, you will always come out better and stronger. And who knows, your ideal man may be some other guy waiting for you as well. At un talaga ang da best na gamot, if you find someone better taking his place.”
